The Learn Drive Survive Safer Drivers Course (SDC) is available to learner drivers who have at least 50 actual hours of driving. Learn Drive Survive are an approved provider of the Transport for NSW Safer Drivers Course that was designed by the Roads & Maritime Services (RMS) and introduced by the NSW Government. This Awesome SDC® was created to educate learner drivers under 25 years of age, safer driving habits and techniques.

Research has proven that novice drivers between the ages of 17 and 25, are most vulnerable in their first year of driving solo. Infact in NSW, crash data shows that novice drivers are approximately three (3) times more likely to be involved in a fatal crash than the average crash rate for all drivers. The SDC is designed to help prepare learner drivers to become safer drivers as they progress to their P’s.

Completing an Awesome SDC® with Learn Drive Survive helps learner drivers understand the importance of driver attitude and behaviour. In this safe driving program, you will learn the techniques and strategies to help minimise unnecessary risk taking, distractions and influences that can affect a drivers capabilty.

If you’re looking for a Learn Drive Survive Safer Drivers Course that is engaging, informative and encourages learner drivers to contribute in group discussions and activities, book today. Led by an experienced facilitator, Module 1 is an interactive and engaging three (3) hour facilitated group discussion set in a classroom environment. Module 2 Safer Drivers Course

Module 2 of the SDC consists of a two (2) hour coaching session in a trainers vehicle. The session only involves two (2) learner drivers and a driver trainer. Frequently Asked Questions

When Can I Do the Safer Drivers Course

To complete the Learn Drive Survive Safer Drivers Course, you must meet the following requirements;

  • you must hold a valid learner licence
  • you must complete a minimum of 50 actual driving hours (not the 3 for 1 bonus hours) and;
  • you must be under 25 years of age.
Will I need to supply my own vehicle to do the in-vehicle coaching part of the safer drivers course?

No. A dual-controlled vehicle will be supplied by the course provider.

Do I have to complete the course modules in a particular order?

Yes. All participants must complete module one (the facilitated group discussion), before completing module two (the in-vehicle coaching). Module two should be completed within one month of module one.

What if I can only complete one of the modules?

The 20 log book hours credit will only be available for learners that have completed both modules of the course within four weeks. Participants should contact Learn Drive Survive directly to learn more about their cancellation/rebooking policies or visit https://learndrivesurvivesdc.com.au/terms-conditions/ for more information.

Is the Safer Driver Course just like a driving lesson?

Although the team at Learn Drive Survive teach the same skills and techniques as the SDC in everyday driving lessons, the course is not about learning to drive. It is a coaching session and doesn’t focus on car control or manoeuvres such as reverse parking.

Can I do the course in a manual vehicle?

We only provide automatic vehicles for students to complete the course. We want all students to focus on the course components and not the operation of the clutch and gears.

Can I fail the course?

No. There is no assessment or pass/ fail component of the Safer Drivers Course. However, participants must complete both course modules to be eligible for the 20 hour log book credit.
